The archive around the work
We think of documentation as part of the work, not a record of it. Our machines exist only while people use them; once the festival closes or the exhibition is struck, what remains are the field tests, the hangings, the set-ups and the makeathons. This page collects those moments.
Almost everything we make passes through the same sequence: a sketch on the studio wall, a crude prototype tested on whoever is nearby — often children — a long negotiation with physics, and an installation day that is half engineering, half choreography. We film each stage, because the decisions made there are where the work is actually authored.
