ActionLaser
The ActionPainter's gesture, translated into light: a laser spirograph drawn in the air with a phone.
I — The workConcept
ActionLaser carries the gestural vocabulary of ActionPainter into a different medium. A laser spirograph — a beam bounced between spinning mirrors — is controlled from a smartphone, so that the movement of a hand becomes a luminous, endlessly redrawn figure in space.

III — The storyMaking & meaning
The spirograph is a children's drawing toy built on precise mathematics. Driving it with a laser and a loose, human gesture produces drawings that are both rigorous and impossible to repeat. We first showed it at a makers fair in a science museum, an audience equally ready for the toy and for the mathematics.
